PC Postage Product Manager
The candidate will be responsible for determining and planning product strategy, feature and functional specifications,
and optimizations for web based sales used in the PC Postage industry.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Manage existing product lines and identify new areas for product development
- Solicit customer feedback from multiple sources including marketing and customer support departments, surveys,
focus groups and customer visits
- Analyze customer segments, market trends and competitive gaps to identify strategic opportunities
- Identify areas for improvement in existing products and features
- Create business cases for identified strategic opportunities including market size, expected penetration, price
points, expected revenue and profit
- Champion and present opportunities to senior management for consideration
- Translate selected strategic opportunities into new product requirements
- Develop a product roadmap and prioritize features for the R&D teams
- Work with the R&D teams to scope product delivery and understand development alternatives
- Work with user interface designers to ensure a high standard of product usability
- Prepare Functional Specifications to document product design
- Work with developers, system engineers, and QA engineers throughout the product development, testing, and
implementation phases to ensure product integrity
- Prepare products for release
- Set up beta tests with marketing
- Review customer feedback and update product based on beta tests
- Participate in pre-sales activities and develop product information materials including user guides and support
documentation including online Knowledge Base for users
- Create and deliver demos for internal and external audiences
- Monitor ongoing performance of products
- Serve as point of contact for any questions, concerns, or suggestions regarding products
- Evaluate and recommend improvements to company processes related to product management
The successful candidate will have the following skills and abilities:
- Minimum BA/BS required with 3-5 years of experience in software technology and product management
- Background in engineering with an MBA preferred
- Experience in the software business, preferably with an ecommerce sales model
- Customer focus: Strong track record of meeting the needs of internal and external customers
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to keep an eye on the big picture and work towards changes directed at a larger
overall goal
- Action oriented: Motivated to take on challenges and seize opportunities for improvement and development
- Functional and technical acumen: Ability to apply both technical and functional expertise to identify a solution
to the problem at hand
- Change management: Able to lead change and process improvements in a dynamic environment.
- Organizational agility: Able to exhibit and manage from a keen awareness of organizational culture; able to get
work done through formal and informal organizational channels
- Effective communicator with multiple audiences, including management, marketing, software developers, systems
engineers, and QA engineers
- Excellent writing, editing, communications, presentation and interpersonal skills
- Strong PC and software applications skills
- Strong analytical skills
