How to do a Mail Merge with Postage in Microsoft Word 2000

Stamps.com allows you to save time by printing postage for a single letter or mail merge in Word 97 or 2000. Close the Stamps.com program if it's open, start Word 97 or 2000, and just follow these simple steps:
- In a Word document, in table format, set up the following data headers:
<FirstName>, <LastName>, <Address1>, <City>, <State> and <PostalCode>
|
FirstName |
LastName |
Address1 |
City |
State |
PostalCode |
|
John |
Smith |
123 1st St |
Anytown |
CA |
90000 |
|
Jane |
Doe |
456 1st St |
Anytown |
CA |
90001 |
- After you have created this data source, proceed with the Mail Merge Helper.
- Once your Merge Fields are in the document, stop using the Mail Merge Helper. Click "Close" on the Mail Merge Helper and click on the Stamps.com Internet Postage icon on the Word toolbar.

- Log in to your Stamps.com account. Stamps.com will complete the mail merge, verifying the addresses as it goes. Set your postage options as usual and click the "Print Postage" button.
Printing "One-offs":
You can use word and other supported word processing applications for printing what we call "One-offs." A One-off is simply a single stamped and addressed envelope. Let's say you're typing a letter and want to save time by printing a stamped envelope to mail your letter in. Here's how:
- Within Word 97 or 2000 type your correspondence as usual.
- Once your letter is finished, highlight the addressee using the mouse.
- With the delivery address highlighted, click on the Stamps.com plug-in on the Word toolbar and log in to your Stamps.com account.
- Your delivery address appears in the correct box on the Print Postage screen. Set your envelope or label options as usual and print! It's that easy!
