We have found that there are some Office Jet Printers that do not print postage optimally when working in conjunction with the Stamps.com software.

The most common issues that we see with this type of printer are:

The Print Samples print successfully. However, a regular job does not successfully print the bar code, and ceases at that point (and may print the bar code on a second sheet of paper or labels).

The software prints out more then one copy of the postage

The software does not print the postage bar code

If you have an HP OfficeJet printer and encounter similar problems, please follow the instructions below:

1. Close out of the Stamps.com software if it is currently open.
2. Click the Windows START button at the bottom left corner of your computer screen.
3. Move your mouse up to SETTINGS and into the CONTROL PANEL.
4. Open up the Control Panel item named PRINTERS (it might say PRINTERS & FAXES).
5. Find your printer in the list. Right-click on it and choose PROPERTIES.
6. If you see a tab that says ADVANCED, click there and skip to Step 8 below.
7. If you see a tab that says DETAILS, click that and then click the button that says SPOOL SETTINGS.
8. Click on the item that says PRINT DIRECTLY TO THE PRINTER.
9. Click on the 'General' tab, and then "Printing Preferences" (Please note that the exact settings vary between printers)
10. Check for an option to change your printing quality to one of the following:
• Economy
• Economode
• Draft
• Manual
• Black and White
• Black Only
11. If you still see the PROPERTIES window, click OK to close it.
12. Reboot your computer.
