Your next label is about to get an upgrade. USPS is connecting label printing directly to its own systems, so the postage on your label matches what USPS charges today.

For Stamps.com customers, that means up-to-date USPS postage rates, cleaner data, and a more secure connection, all without changing how you print.

What’s new at USPS
------------------

USPS now offers a direct connection for label printing, known as an API. An API lets two systems exchange information without anyone in the middle. Your label request goes in, and USPS sends back the postage and the label.

Until now, a rate change reached you as an announcement. You read it, then updated your pricing. With USPS’s new API, changes flow straight to your labels, so there’s nothing to wait for.

There’s nothing to switch on, either. Most sellers will print labels the same way they do today.

Postage that matches USPS
-------------------------

Because rates come directly from USPS, the postage on your label reflects its current pricing. As USPS moves to[ dynamic pricing](https://www.stamps.com/article/dynamic-shipping-rates/), a direct connection keeps your labels in step.

A solo seller pricing shipping for a new product and a warehouse team printing hundreds of labels a day need the same thing: USPS postage rates they can trust. Now the number on the label is the number USPS charges.

A shorter path for customer data
--------------------------------

Label data now travels to USPS over a direct, modern connection built to current USPS security standards. Fewer handoffs means fewer places for information to go astray.

Customer names and addresses take a shorter, more secure path to USPS.

Cleaner data, fewer label fixes
-------------------------------

Your shipment details reach USPS in a standardized format. That cuts down on mix-ups and mismatches between what you entered and what the carrier sees.

Think of an apartment number that drops off, or a ZIP code that doesn’t line up with the city. Consistent data means fewer of those surprises, and fewer labels to reprint.

A one-minute address check
--------------------------

USPS’s connection needs a complete address on every label: street address, city, state, and ZIP code. Most sellers already have this covered, but a quick look is worth it.

If you print with Stamps.com, open your account settings and confirm your ship-from and return addresses are complete. Ship from a different location? Add it as a ship-from address.

If you connect through an integration or API, send the full address with every label request, not just a ZIP code.

Where USPS shipping is heading
------------------------------

Carriers are building direct, real-time connections, and sellers gain the most when the technical side runs quietly in the background. Stamps.com handles the connection, the data format, and the rate updates, so you can stay focused on packing orders and getting them out the door.

Current USPS postage rates, cleaner data, and a more secure connection, with less for you to manage. Confirm your addresses in your account settings, and you’re ready for what’s next. New to Stamps.com? [Start mailing with Stamps.com today.](https://registration.stamps.com/registration/)
