Prior to joining Canon in 1992, he was director of product management for Epson America, Inc., where he was responsible for marketing and product planning. Bergman was also vice president, consumer marketing for Print Technology Inc., and served as a product manager at Atari, Inc.

Bergman holds an MBA degree from the University of Michigan Graduate School of Business. He earned a BA in Economics from the University of California at Davis. Bergman began his marketing career at Procter and Gamble.
