How does Stamps.com work?

Think of it as a bank account for postage. The postage that you print will automatically be deducted from your Stamps.com account. You incur no surcharge on postage. Your postage solution administrator reviews expenditures online by individual, location, mail class or reference code.

Preprinted marking on mailpieces which show that postage has been paid by the sender.

With Stamps.com, it's incredibly easy to send batch mailings for billing or any other client communications. The Stamps.com software helps you manage your customer address books, or import your mailing lists from other software programs.

Do I need to purchase any additional hardware?

No. You only need your PC, an Internet connection and a printer. We will send you a free digital scale. However, we do offer specialized postage printers through our online store.

What supplies do I need?

No supplies are necessary if you print directly onto envelopes or plain paper for shipping labels. For your convenience, we have sheets of NetStamps, NetStamps on rolls, Certified Mail forms, mailing supplies, printers, shipping labels, packing supplies and more through our online store.

How many NetStamps are available per sheet or per roll?

NetStamps come in sheets of 20. We sell them in packages of 5 or 250. Our rolls of NetStamps come in a package of 500 labels.

What printer do I need to purchase for the NetStamps rolls?

The Stamps.com Postage Printer or any Dymo printer will work!

Can Stamps.com help me track my postage spending?

With Stamps.com, you can track your mailing and shipping spending to the penny! You can even use your own internal reference codes to make sure everything is billed properly. Corporate plans have up to 1000 reference codes.

Can I see how much postage has been printed by each location?

Yes, you can see the postage printed by location, by reference codes, mail class and transaction detail.

Can I add and delete accounts from the website?

No. You can add and delete accounts by emailing or calling your corporate account representative.

What if I decide to cancel?

Unlike other postage meter solutions, we do not require long-term commitments; in fact, we reward you for them by providing steep discounts! We do charge a cancellation fee to cover the administrative burden of cancellation processes.

Do you mark-up postage?

No. We charge a monthly service fee and the cost of any supplies you purchase from our online store. However, there are no supplies necessary to use the service.

How do I prevent unauthorized use?

Each account is password protected. A secret question is the only way the password can change, and the administrator sets the secret question to control the use of the software. An administrator can also cancel a location at any time.

How do I prevent employee fraud?

Companies love that they can track each postage amount printed back to the individual computer. Knowing this information prevents employee fraud. Additionally, reference codes provide insight into what people are spending postage funds on and provide an opportunity for easy expense tracking.

Will this work with our company's firewall?

Absolutely! Stamps.com requires an Internet connection and generally does not have any challenges connecting through your company's firewall.

Can I set this up on our server or do I have to install on everyone's desktop?

In general, the Stamps.com application must be installed on individual PCs. We are compatible with Citrix servers. If you have another server application, we can provide you with a PDK (Postage Development Kit). The cost is the same as our regular corporate service.

What does IT have to do?

In some cases, if your users do not have administrative rights to their machine, an IT representative will have to do the initial install. We handle the account set-up on the back-end here, so total install time on your end is only about two minutes. From time to time, we will require that your software be updated (e.g. when postal rates change). Over the last several years, we have averaged less than one mandatory update each year. Our update generally takes less than two minutes to complete.

Do I need multiple log-ins for different users in an office?

Yes. Stamps.com is a licensed product, and as such requires distinct log-ins per user. We do this to protect our customers' security, so you can track postage printed from each user at each PC, as well as close accounts at will if you have employee turnover.
